This week for Reading l was working with Miiana, Matthew,Avalon and Te Pounamu we created a Animation about the story of how Yuri Gagarin was the first human to go into space. We went to the stardome last week and saw a display about Yuri Gagarin and decided to use our digital creating skills to make an animation. We first planned it out on a paper using the s chart. This showed us the order of how he went into space, where he was from and what type of rocket he went on. Yuri Gagarin was a Soviet Cosmonaut. People called him a hero and a town was named after him and they even made a stamp of his face. He became very famous. When we were making our plan we were using our skimming and scanning skills to help us know the order of the event in the story.
My favourite part was making the rocket drawing. Also we used every bit of time usefully to find info and to confirm our information. Another favourite part was hearing what Gagarin said after orbiting the earth. The quote is from 1961 but i still believe it is true today. We should all be cooperating with each other not fighting.
“Looking at the earth from afar you realise it is too small for conflict and just big enough for cooperation”.
